Nadiyah Hidayati, S.P., M.Sc., a graduate student in Master in Pest Science at UGM, has achieved remarkable success by winning the Best Young Researcher II award at the XXVII National PFI Seminar. Her success extends beyond academic achievements and encompasses a range of extracurricular activities that have inspired her fellow students.

Nadiyah has demonstrated extraordinary perseverance in pursuing knowledge and development in the field of plant pest science. Her high level of dedication is reflected in her academic accomplishments and participation in research and projects relevant to her field of study. This joint effort in Wonosobo Regency involves the Directorate of Horticultural Protection, Semarang Class I Agricultural Quarantine Center, Central Java LPHP, POPT, and IHT lecturers, alumni, and master’s students. The collaboration focuses on pest and natural enemy surveillance to better understand and manage the agricultural ecosystem.

This collaboration between UMN, UGM, and BSI aims to develop an early detection system for pests and diseases on potato leaves. Through the combined expertise of lecturers, alumni, and MPS’s students, the project seeks to create a more efficient and effective approach to safeguarding crops

This visit to the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Science, Diponegoro University, was to promote the master’s and doctoral study programs in the Department of Plant Protection (HPT), namely the Master in Phytopathology and Master in Pest Science and the Doctorate in Agricultural Science majoring in Phytopathology and Pest Science. The event was held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The HPT team that joined included Alan Soffan, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Secretary of the Department of Plant Protection), Ani Widiastuti, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Head of the Master in Phytopathology), Islaminati Anna Santika, S.P. (Master’s student in Phytopathology), and Yuni Apriliana, S.P. (Master’s student in Pest Science). The HPT team was warmly received and welcomed by the Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Science, Agus Setiadi, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D. Students who participated in the promotional activity were also quite enthusiastic. This was evident from the active participation of students in asking questions about the master’s and doctoral study programs. Furthermore, the HPT team also prepared souvenirs to be distributed to students who asked questions. The visit also opened up opportunities for further collaboration between the Department of Plant Protection, UGM and the Faculty of of Animal and Agricultural Science, Diponegoro University in various fields, especially agriculture. read more

March 12, 2022. The Pest Study Group, Master of Plant Pest Science, UGM hosted the Alumni Interaction: Exchange Program to Japan. Ilmam Zul Fahmi, a JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) awardee and Master of Plant Pest Sciences alumni, hosted the event. He explained the registration process, the registration flow, the campus location, the campus facilities, campus life, housing, and research activities.

In addition, he shared some good tips on how to prepare research plan proposals and proposal presentations for the registration interview. It becomes more valuable to be considered by the interviewer. read more

Master in Pest Science encourages students to conceive and implement novel research within the Integrated Pest Management empasis to the insect sciences and nematode as well as Vertebrate pest animals. Master in Pest Science Study Program is designed to give students a general knowledge of the principles of managing insect pests in a variety of situations, and a firm understanding of the environmental consequences of pest control decisions. Individual graduate programs are planned by students in consultation with their advisor and the Head of Study Program in Pest Science, Graduate Studies.  Study and research are available in various areas of entomology including acarology, basic and applied entomology, insect molecular, agricultural toxicology, nematology, vertebrate pests, and forecasting. Individuals who complete this curriculum will be well prepared for careers in which the primary focus will be management of crop pests as an important aspect. Careers in which the Study Program in Pest Science will be beneficial include Plant Quarantine Officer, Ministry of Agriculture, Agri-chemical Technical or Sales Representatives, Private Crop Consultants, Farm Advisors, etc. read more

Master in Pest Science UGM held socialization sessions with the Department of Pests and Plant Diseases (HPT), Faculty of Agriculture UGM, and agencies within the Ministry of Agriculture, namely the Center for the Protection of Food Crops and Horticulture (BPTPH) on Thursday, January 13, 2022. The socialization was held at BPTPH Pandak, Bantul, followed by five people from the HPT Department and approximately twenty-five people from BPTPH. Five people who participated from the HPT Department were the Head of the Department, namely Dr. Tri Joko, S.P., M.Sc., Head of the Phytopathology Masters Study Program, namely Ani Widiastuti, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Plant Pest Masters Study Program, Dr. Suputa, S.P., M.P., Professor at the HPT Department, namely Prof. Ir. Achmadi Priyatmojo, M.Sc., Ph.D., and a part-time master’s degree student, Yuni Apriliana. Meanwhile, twenty-five people from BPTPH consist of POPT young experts and first experts, agricultural product quality supervisors to the head of the technical service section. The collaboration program aims to improve the quality of human resources within the Ministry of Agriculture and maintain the existence of the Master Program in Phytopathology and Plant Pest Science, Department of HPT. read more
